About

Now retired for more than a decade, my career as a busy Academic pathologist with a strong research and educational record (240 peer reviewed papers, three books, many graduate students and a lot of undergraduate and post graduate courses) seems a lifetime ago. In the last decade, we well as a lot of travel, I’ve completed an Open University Mathematics degree, and kept very busy.

My time is split between North Down in Northern Ireland and La Manga in the Spanish province of Murcia, where Hilary and I enjoy the golf, the cuisine and outdoor living.

Why Craigavad? Well it refers to a small area of the North Down coast where we live. It’s derived from the Irish phrase Craig an Bháda, meaning ‘rock of the boat’ and the area has quiet residential roads and lanes, a magnificent golf course (Royal Belfast Golf Club) and a wonderful stretch of coastline.
